I first met Dawn and Jayson in a coffee shop in Madison. I was there to shoot their engagement photos. We had a fun time exploring the city and the capital building. They planned a classic Door County wedding where their friends and family could have a mini-vacation.
The morning of the wedding, Jayson and his groomsmen went out to the golf course where Jayson scored a hole-in-one. It was really amazing, but everyone had to keep on reminding him that there was something else important happening that day.
Dawn and the girls got ready in one of the rooms. We did photos of the bride and bridesmaids inside since it was windy outside, and we didn’t want her to mess up her hair. Then we did a “first look” where Dawn and Jayson could touch but didn’t see each other. I could tell how much in love by how nervous they both were.
The ceremony was outside with a beautiful back drop of the bay and the tall trees around the Landmark. After the ceremony, we went down the road to get some shots on the beach and in the trees. With a storm coming in, the clouds were amazing.
The reception was very nicely put together and included fun things for the guests like a popcorn bar, but the best part of the evening was the dancing! After the mother/father dances, they took a break and then Dawn came out in a “dancing with the stars” outfit. And the two of them lit up the dance floor with a custom salsa dance they had been practicing for months.
It was a beautiful day. It was a lot of fun getting to know Dawn and Jayson throughout the process. I wish them all the best.

The decor was to die for! From the flowers to the programs to the cake to the wedding dress hanger, the plumes of peacock feathers and rich jewel tones were carried elegantly throughout the celebration. And there was quite a bit of fun in the photobooth after the guests were plied with delicious food prepared by Gordon Lodge and a table filled with candy.
Everyone had a great time, and we were thrilled to be part of their beautiful day.

My wife and I celebrated 11 years of marriage this weekend. Not every year is celebrated with fireworks, but this year, we splurged and had a cake created by FlourGirl Patissier. Sarah was gracious enough to try a new flavor, tiramisu (my wife's favorite dessert!). It was delicious. Our boys even ate some of the interior of the cake (and not just the frosting). We highly recommend it for those celebrating an anniversary or just want a taste of heaven.
Next year, maybe we'll celebrate in Italy and try the tiramisu on the Mediterranean *wink! So if you're looking for a spectacular Italian wedding in November (or any time of the year — we're not picky), just give us a call, we'd love to share our wedding date with you!]]>

]]>The small wooden chapel was built in a late 12th-century Norwegian stave church style and is modeled after the Garmo stave church at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. It contains numerous hand-painted frescoes and finely carved wood throughout. My portable flash system and lenses allowed me to get some great shots of the special moments of the wedding as well as the interior of the gorgeous chapel without being intrusive.
After the ceremony, we took group and the bridal couple's photos in various locations around the Björklunden property — in front of the chapel, along the waterfront and in the woods before heading to the Waterfront Restaurant in Sister Bay for the reception.
It was a lovely wedding, and it was a wonderful experience being able to capture the romance and joy of Barbara and Karl's special day.

Simonie and Andy were married on a gorgeous summer's day in Door County's Peninsula State Park overlooking the bay of Green Bay with a lighthouse and romantic stone wall as a backdrop. The wedding was followed by a beautiful reception at Gordon Lodge complete with dancing shoes and delicious treats. I worked as a second shooter with Michael Segal, and these were the moments I captured.

]]>It was cold day in Door County. The first snowflakes of the season were starting to fall. Adam and Sarah made the trip up from Illinois to shoot their engagement photos. They wanted to do something different and take their photos outside in the snow.
The Story
Adam and Sarah met in college and stayed distant friends until they reconnected on Facebook. They lived hours apart, but something drew them closer. He likes trying new beers, and she enjoys wine tasting. They both like to share time over a cup of coffee. She makes him blush, and he makes her laugh. It felt a bit warmer in Wisconsin that day.
